Holy moly, what an adventure! Melita Island will always be one of my most favorite places on Earth. Spending a week there is never enough. I asked the Scouts who went to tell about their experiences:
Megan: I enjoyed Melita very much. I did the emergency preparedness, camping, and lifesaving merit badges. Overall my favorite was probably lifesaving. The water was so clear and refreshing to swim or boat around in during our free time. I definitely would go there again.
Jak: I enjoyed the ACE Program were I went snorkeling, white water rafting, sailing in small boats, and did something different to everyday. It was a good program for older scouts who have completed most of the merit badges or their higher ranks. The Friday team games were fun, too. I also like seeing my friends from the other troops in Black Otter Council. Plus, the food was really good and I liked signing the Pizza Man Song.
Xander: My favorite part of scout camp was spending time with my friends and swimming during free time. I thought the emergency preparedness drill where we had to attend to victims was pretty cool as well.
Rosemary: This was was my second summer camp at Melita and I had TONS of fun. I learned a lot and earned some important and hard merit badges: Lifesaving, Environmental Science, and nearly finished Camping. I also got to go sailing, make arrowheads, do the obstacle course, and so much more. I always do the Polar Plunge because I LOVE the cold water. The staff were amazing and make the experience so much fun. I would love to be on staff someday.
Next year, we go to summer camp at K-M near Lewistown, Montana!
